Dan Rizzie

Born 1951 in New York, Rizzie grew up in India, Egypt, Jordan and Jamaica. A painter, printmaker and collage artist, he attended Hendrix College in Arkansas where he was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award. He later earned a MFA from Southern Methodist University’s Meadow’s School of Art in Texas. Rizzie’s art can be seen in the permanent American collections.

The inspiration comes for my basic love of animals and the years I spent in India as a teenager. The design is inspired by African textiles and The motif I have developed over the years. I basically approached this like I would a blank canvas working off inspiration as I moved forward.
